Safety Tips for Working With Roll Tooling

Written by Kirstie Ratzer-Farley | June 28, 2018

When you understand the limits of your tooling, you are able to prevent injury. Here are some safety tips related to maintenance of your tooling:

  • First and foremost, make sure that all involved in the tooling process are well trained on the machinery.
  • If the material that you are running is too thick, the potential for the die to break increases dramatically.  Make sure you understand the limitations of the tooling.
  • Another important point is that you should never alter your tooling. Incredible amounts of energy can be released when this is done and can cause hazards.
  • Make sure your tooling is regularly cleaned and maintained to reduce cuts and burns.
  • Use proper personal protective equipment to protect eyes, face, feet, and hands. But make sure that there is nothing that would obstruct or get caught in the machine.

These are just a few tips to help avoid injury and make sure your machinery runs as smoothly as possible.
