Formtek is excited to share that Paul Williams and Brian Rodgers will co-present an In-depth Workshop at METALCON 2025 in Las Vegas. The session “Roll Forming for the Metal Construction Industry: Part 2” is designed for both current roll formers and teams ready to enter metal construction with confidence and will take place on Wednesday, October 22, 2025.
Renowned as the premier event for metal construction professionals, METALCON offers a dynamic space for industry leaders to exchange insights, connect, and discover the newest innovations in metal construction technology and practices. Drawing architects, engineers, contractors, and suppliers from across the industry, is the ideal stage for experts to share their knowledge and experience.
Why attend
This half-day program delivers practical, production-level guidance from two of the industry’s most experienced practitioners. You’ll leave with actionable ideas to improve quality, throughput, and quoting accuracy, plus clarity on how to leverage the equipment you already own. The workshop is part of METALCON’s education lineup, taking place October 21–23, 2025 at the Las Vegas Convention Center.
What you’ll learn (four focused topics)
- Material and How it Affects Metal Building Products in the Roll Forming Process — Brian Rodgers: Understand how material changes impact your profile, required die tonnage, roll design, and mill capabilities, so you can preserve design intent while maintaining consistency and speed.
- Creative Options for Punching/Shearing/Cutoff Challenges in the Metal Building Industry — Paul Williams: Compare stationary, flying, and rotary punching approaches for components like purlins, studs, joists, and siding; review measurement/acceleration strategies, press selection, and where pre-shear vs. post-cutoff configurations excel.
- Advanced Roll Forming of Steel Framing Components & Utilizing Existing Capital Equipment and Tooling — Brian Rodgers: Explore advanced changeover methods (thickness, cross-section, punch locations, length), high-speed part handling, training needs, and how to evaluate and repurpose older assets to meet today’s demands—including programmable rotary systems.
- Requesting a Quote for Roll Forming 101: Let Us Help You — Brian Rodgers & Paul Williams: Get a clear framework for accurate RFQs: when a simple line is enough, when a complex line is required, and what information to include to avoid common pitfalls, plus time for Q&A.
Who should attend
- Manufacturers producing or planning to produce metal building components (roof/siding panels, studs, joists, purlins, accessories).
- Operations, engineering, and estimating teams aiming to tighten tolerances, reduce scrap, and quote with confidence.
- Leaders looking to stretch existing machines and tooling before investing in new capital.
